7 Days Exploring Okavango Delta

Your journey begins in Maun, where you’ll meet your safari guide. After a short briefing, you’ll drive about 3–4 hours into the famous Moremi Game Reserve. Along the way, you may spot wildlife and will stop for lunch en route. On arrival, settle into your campsite and head out for your first late afternoon game drive. As the sun sets over the bush, you’ll return to camp for dinner and your first night under the stars of Botswana.

The day starts with an early morning game drive after a light breakfast. Moremi is one of Africa’s most rewarding wildlife areas, home to elephants, buffalo, giraffes, lions, leopards, and abundant birdlife. After returning to camp for brunch and a rest, you’ll head out in the afternoon game drive. return to camp for dinner.

After breakfast head out for early morning game drive, heading towards the boat station for a scenic boat cruise at Xakanaxa. This experience offers a unique view of the Okavango Delta, where you can glide past hippos, crocodiles, and colorful bird species. Upon completing you boat cruise, begin your transfer to the Khwai Concession. The journey takes about 2 hours and doubles as a game drive, with plenty of opportunities to spot wildlife along the way. On arrival at your new campsite, you’ll have time to relax before heading out for a sunset game drive in Khwai. Return to camp for dinner and spend the night surrounded by the sounds of the bush.

Your fourth day in the bush will include both morning and afternoon game drives. The Khwai River area is particularly rich in wildlife, making every drive exciting and rewarding. Between activities, you’ll return to camp for brunch and some relaxation. Later, set out again for a sunset drive before enjoying your dinner in Khwai and evening around the campfire.

Today begins with an early morning game drive, giving you the chance to explore Khwai’s varied landscapes and rich wildlife. After brunch and a rest at camp, the afternoon is reserved for a mokoro excursion along the quiet waterways. Gliding through the channels in a traditional dug-out canoe is one of the most peaceful ways to experience Botswana, offering close-up views of birds, frogs, and even elephants drinking at the water’s edge, you also have an optional walking safari. Return to camp in the evening for dinner and overnight.

This day is dedicated to exploring Khwai in depth. After a light breakfast, you’ll set off on a long morning game drive, venturing further into the concession in search of predators and large herds. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the wild before returning to camp for a short rest. In the evening, you’ll head out on a special night drive with spotlights, giving you the chance to see nocturnal animals such as civets, genets, owls, and perhaps a leopard on the hunt. Dinner will be served back at camp.

On your final day, rise early for one last morning game drive in Khwai, soaking in the sights and sounds of the African bush. After brunch, you’ll begin the 3-4 hour journey back to Maun, where you’ll be dropped off at the airport or your lodge. This marks the end of your safari adventure, with unforgettable memories of Moremi and Khwai.
